Green River Central Park Primary Irrigation Network
New Administrative Capital, Egypt
CLIENT: Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD)
Project Overview
Covering over 10 linear kilometers, the Green River Central Park is the primary green lung of Egypt’s New Administrative Capital. RE Consultant was retained for the primary pressurized irrigation network, TSE water pumping stations, and central SCADA control systems.
Technical Solution
- TSE Pressurized Distribution: Designed 16 km of electrofusion-welded High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE 100, PN16) distribution mains supplying filtered treated sewage effluent (TSE) water across zone clusters.
- Vertical Turbine Pumping Hub: Engineered a central pumping facility with four 350 kW vertical turbine pumps delivering up to 1,400 m³/hr with automated backwash disc filtration arrays removing particulates down to 100 microns.
- Hydraulic Transient & Surge Mitigation: Modeled transient water hammer pressures using specialized surge vessels with pre-charged nitrogen bladders, preventing pipe bursting during sudden emergency pump trips.
Water Conservation Impact
Automated central weather station integration adjusts watering schedules based on local evapotranspiration (ET) rates, conserving 35% of irrigation water compared to conventional timer-based systems.
