Project Overview

A state-of-the-art 320-bed specialized cardiology hospital featuring 8 modular laminar flow surgical suites, intensive care units, and advanced diagnostic imaging facilities. RE Consultant was appointed as the Lead MEP Engineering Consultant responsible for complete design verification, BIM coordination (LOD 400), and full-time resident engineering site supervision.

Technical Solution

• Surgical Suite Pressurization: Designed cascade pressure differentials (+30 Pa in operating theaters relative to sterile corridors) using variable air volume (VAV) venturi air valves integrated into the central BMS.
• Medical Gas Distribution: Engineered full NFPA 99 compliant manifold systems for Oxygen, Nitrous Oxide, Medical Air (4 bar), Surgical Air (7 bar), and AGSS (Anesthetic Gas Scavenging System) with regional alarm panels.
• Power Reliability: Integrated dual medium-voltage transformers (2x 2000 kVA) with automatic transfer switches (ATS) coupled to dual synchronized diesel generator sets providing 100% emergency backup within 8 seconds.

Engineering Impact

Zero cross-contamination incidents verified during environmental microbiological validation, and 18% reduction in lifecycle chiller energy through heat recovery chillers supplying domestic hot water.
